STI SVC: STI College Santa Rosa gets third place

The STI Women's Volleyball Challenge
2nd Runner-up
STI College Santa Rosa

STI College Santa Rosa bounced back to beat STI College Ortigas- Cainta in three straight sets 25 – 18, 25 – 23, 25 – 16 to place third in the STI Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the Eusebio H. Tanco gym at the STI Academic Center in Ortigas - Cainta. Still smarting from their 3 sets to 2 loss to eventual champion STI College Sta. Maria in the semifinals, the Santa Rosa spikers vented their ire on the hapless STI College Ortigas-Cainta team that was barely the team that swept the Metro Manila 1 eliminations.

Camille Tiongco rattles one in

STI College Santa Rosa’s masterful win was engineered by Mythical six selectees Camille Tiongco and Hiennah Trinos. Tiongco scored 10 points with seven coming from kills and three from service aces. On the other hand, Santa Rosa’s setter Trinos still managed to score on two kills and a service ace. It was only in the second set that saw STI College Ortigas-Cainta threaten the Laguna based Santa Rosa spikers.

Sabrina Umali gets one for OrCA

STI College Ortigas-Cainta was led by Sabrina Umali who had eight points with six coming from kills and the other two on service aces. Unfortunately, Umali – a mythical six selectee, misfired on most of her spikes and was barely a factor in this game. The only bright spot in the game of the Ortigas-Cainta team was Kate Del Rosario who is also the best setter of the tournament.

Hiennah Trinos shows her stuff

Other players who got special awards were the Liberos of both teams with STI College Santa Rosa’s Jayan Sajonia getting the Best Digger award and STI College Ortigas-Cainta’s Maria Loren Encisa getting the Best Libero award.  As mentioned, Tiongco, Trinos and Umali were also selected to the Mythical 6.
